You don’t need a Photoshop subscription to make glowing thumbnail designs that entice users to click on your videos. In this tutorial I’ll be showing you how to do so in Affinity Photo.
The key to nailing this look is knowing which Adjustment Layers and Quick FX to use, and in this lesson I go over quite a few of them. If this tutorial does nothing else, it’ll at least highlight just how convenient and efficient Affinity Photo is.
Design Assets
The design assets I used to create this design were purchased from a stock photo site, so I can’t share them with you directly. However, the images below are linked to the original sources in case you’d like to obtain copies to work with.
The background image I’ll be using is this pink light burst effect:
And the subject I’ll be using is as follows:
And then I’ll be using the Affinity Photo app icon:
The fonts used are Serrona for the primary text (“Design Thumbnails”) and Montserrat Black for the secondary text (“Affinity Photo”).
