Below you will find a download link for 15 pattern tiles that are infinitely repeatable. Use them to design backgrounds, headers, merchandise, and more:
I made them by taking some public domain images and arranging them on colored backdrops. They are formatted in such a way that they can be repeated infinitely and seamlessly:
Each pattern comes as a 300 x 300 pixel rasterized tile. They were created in Inkscape using a simple technique that I demonstrated in a tutorial from a couple of years ago:
The patterns come in the following summer-based themes:
- Popsicle
- Watermelon
- Lemon
- Coconut
- Flamingo
- Hotdog
- Pineapple
- Leaves
- Iced beverage
- Palm trees
- Palms
- Ice cream cone
- Umbrella
- Sunflower
- Beach chair
How To Use These Patterns
Here’s how you can use these patterns tiles, depending on your application of choice:
Inkscape Users
Simply drag and drop one of the pattern tiles onto the canvas, select it, then go to:
Object > Pattern > Objects to Pattern
Once you’ve done that, you can grab the Nodes Tool and click and drag the transformation handles to scale and rotate the pattern as I did in the animated GIF above.
They can be applied to other objects as a pattern fill using the Fill & Stroke menu.
Affinity Designer Users
For Affinity Designer, you’ll have to use the Gradient Tool. Select the object with the tool then choose Bitmap from the Type dropdown at the top of the screen where the tool settings menu is.
When prompted, locate one of the pattern tiles on your hard drive and select it to apply it.
Watch the following video tutorial if you’d like a step-by-step walkthrough:
Adobe Illustrator Users
And finally, Adobe Illustrator users can apply these pattern tiles using the technique in the following tutorial:
These patterns will also work in other applications as well!

Hi Andrew, these were made using raster images so it’s not possible to use them as vectors.

Hi Nick,
Just logged into my account to find to my delight, that when I bought your Masterclass bundle a couple of years ago, the Gimp Class is in there. Yay!-

Yes, that was one of my original courses. Hope you like it, Patty!

Thank you for the patterns Nick, Ill look forward to incorporating them into some summer stickers to start with!
I also want to thank you for the courses that you teach on Inkscape and Affinity Designer. I go back to the classes over and over again when I get stuck on how to use a tool or when I can’t figure out what I might be doing wrong when I’m designing. They are excellent classes. I just downloaded GIMP and was hoping that you taught a class on that too. I see that you do and will sign up right away. Thank YOU again!! -

Hi Nick. Did you mean to put these out as PNG graphics? All the previous sets were vectors. Thanks Mark

HI Nick, these are really great, thank you! However, I did have one question. I use a piece of software that can’t use raster images – everything has to be vector, including the fills. So, I followed your tutorial, and it works amazingly well up until I want to use the final object in this other software as it sees the fill as raster images and so can’t be used. Is there a way to make the fill vector? I have played around and nothing obviously works, so can it be done?
Many thanks
