Update Regarding Logo Design Services
This post is meant to serve as an update concerning my design services and “Logos By Nick” as a whole.
As of January 1st, 2021 I am no longer taking on new projects or offering any kind of design services for hire. Logos By Nick is exclusively an educational platform now, and that’s where I’ll be focusing all of my time and energy moving forward.
If you’ve ever hired me in the past to design something for you then I’m still available to provide support and answer questions. Just send me an email or use the contact page on this site to get in touch!
I know how little sense it makes that a website called “Logos By Nick” doesn’t offer any logos, so continue on if you’d like an explanation. Otherwise, thank you for your consideration and I wish you luck in finding a designer!
Why I’m Doing This
I started creating educational content in 2015 as a way to promote my design services, and it worked really well. In fact, it worked so well that it opened up a world of opportunities for me to explore.
Over the past year, the business that I’ve built around being a content creator has done so well that it would be foolish for me to continue selling my time rather than investing it back into this platform.
For a while I thought that I could continue freelancing while also putting out high quality content with some degree of regularity, but I can’t. Commissioned projects require a lot of time and attention, and to be candid, I can’t justify dedicating most of my working time to something that now only represents a fraction of my income.
I considered increasing my rates, which would justify continuing on as a freelancer, but that’s not the direction I want to go in. As grateful as I am for the opportunity to have supported myself as a freelancer for the past decade, I’m eager to move on, and it’s in my best interest to do so.
It’s also in your best interest because the truth of the matter is that I’m simply too distracted to do a good job for you, and it wouldn’t be right for me to pretend I’m not and take your money anyway.
Leaving The Door Open
There is a remote possibility that I’ll offer my services for hire again in the future — whether it be out of necessity or because I simply miss the daily workflow of freelancing. For now, it’ll have to make for a solid plan B.
I really enjoyed designing things for my clients, and it wouldn’t be a tragedy if I ever had to fall back on it. I’ve found work that I enjoy doing even more though, and the market has been unequivocal in letting me know that I’m more valuable when I focus on that work.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I apologize that there are no more logos by Nick if that’s what you came here for!
